Italy
Our school, founded in 1870 and afterwards and named after Mariano Buratti , a teacher of history and philosophy who was also a hero of the Italian “Resistenza” killed by the Nazi-fascists in 1944, is now attended by 1273 students and it consists of two branches: a language one in which students specialize in modern foreign languages and a classical one whose main subjects are Latin and Greek; it is equipped with some labs ( IT, chemistry, physics and music) three gyms and a library, some rooms have white boards or flat screen TV sets.
An important annual event in our school is the Certamen, a competition in which students from Italy Europe are required to translate and comment on a passage from a Greek author.
The high quality of the education the students are given is shown by the excellent results in the final exams (Esame di Stato, at the end of the 5th year) and by their successful university achievements: many students have become acknowledged lawyers, journalists and doctors.
However our school does not offer only academic studies but also a variety of activities the students join in the afternoon: a drama lab, which has won several prizes, a music lab and many other opportunities.
